Trip to Bewfort SC

Over the Christmas weekend my family and I went down to see our friend's in Beaufort SC.

St. Helena's in Beaufort SC. It was built in 1712. We went to a Christmas Day service there.

The communion chalices were also nearly 200 years old. They had a open communion, so it was nice to share the Lord's Supper with a Brother in Christ, but also touch a piece of history.

Mrs. Baker was the one we came and visited. Here my mom is showing her how to work a black berry.
My dad fixing Christmas Dinner in Mrs. Baker's.

Mrs. and Mr. Orford, Mrs. Bakers daughter and son -in- law celebrating Christmas.

A walk in Beaufort town. One of my favorites :)

Beaufort waterway.

Beaufort Church. The Tree with Spanish moss and the palm tree are a unique paradox.

A cool tree tunnel.

Down by the water near Mrs. Baker'neighborhood.

Psalms 104:16 "The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted."

Revelation 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:

At a road stop we threw few snow balls. It reminded me of 1 Chronicles 11:13 " He was with David at Pasdammim. Now there the Philistines were gathered for battle, and there was a piece of ground full of barley. So the people fled from the Philistines. But they stationed themselves in the middle of that field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory. "
We build another dishwasher for Cracker Barrel, haha, a snowman.

The forest home looked peaceful.
Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; "

A snow plow was in front of us on our way home. When we were on a side road.

Snow to the north of the trees.
Farms in Currituck,North Carolina.

In the evening and the morning after our trip we worked on shoveling the driveway. It was good PT.

Last we went sledding :) Guess who is the anchor?

The almost white Christmas

These past weeks in Chesapeake VA we have been experiencing a lot of snow. The snow did not come as heavy as last year, but it was still thick enough that restaurants were slower and school was shut down. We sure enjoyed the almost white Christmas :) The snow melted away this last week before Christmas.

It reminded me of Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool".

Our backyard and part of our garden.

Our house, we put up lights and garland on the porch this year.

The neighborhood and a icy road. A beautiful sight.

Thanksgiving photos!

Thanksgiving week my dad came back from Pensacola FL. We set up the Christmas decorations, cooked Thanksgiving dinner, and cleaned the yard.

We all have a lot to give thanks for: family together, good opportunity for school, work, sanctification progress, strength, health, and good friendships...

Family and dog, we are dog watching. The dog is great, she loves her walks.

Three days worth of leaves. My dad, mom, and I also cut down a few dead trees from our wet lands.

Thanksgiving dinner, yum

The vegetarian loaf instead of turkey, complements of my dad who cooked. My mom cooked the vegetables.

New Laptop!

A month or two ago I bought a new Mac Book laptop. I was using an old computer for school.
It had served us loyally since Guam and had 3000 photos on it, but it was very slow. It reminded me of the Israelite's shoes that never wore out through the 40 years in the wilderness. Now this laptop computer is great. I take it to the Community College Library and on the road-it even down to Florda with me. It is a great tool.

Pensacola Adventure

My dad is in Pensacola for his last assignment with the Navy. The start of this week I went to see him. We traveled around and saw a number of historical sights. Pensacola is a beautiful piece of God's creation.

Pensacola Navy base has a 170+ foot lighthouse. The view from the top is awesome!

The lens of the lighthouse was the original Civil War lens. The Coast Guard clean the glass with water and keep the light house shining.

Fort Barrancas was an impregnable fortress in the 1830s. It is on the Navy Base. It was built as one of the early US coastal defenses which stretched from the Mississippi to Michigan.

My dad and I went to the Navy Air Museum.

A Blue Angel cockpit that the museum allowed people to sit in.

A flight simulator at the Navy Air Museum. Joe, I wish you could flown back seat in this fighter.

Fort Morgan.

Fort Gaine

Fort Gaine was one of the forts defending the Mobile Bay during the Civil War. The Confederates held this fort and Fort Morgan across the mouth of the harbor. When Admiral Farragut sailed his fleet into Mobile Bay, the Confederate Forts and their ships fought Admiral Farragut. In the end the Union won.

The Battle of Mobile Bay

After seeing Fort Morgan, my dad and I drove the car on a car ferry and crossed the channel to Fort Gaine.

On the road from Fort Gaine to the USS Alabama in Mobile Bay.

The USS Alabama looks great on the inside. I climbed inside the second set of guns. I saw where the 16 inch shells were loaded. The Alabama and the
USS Wisconsin in the Norfolk harbor are both very cool.
Then my dad and I ate at my favorite restaurants chain- This Cracker Barrel was on our way home from Mobile Bay.

The last day in Pensacola I got to see the beach. The sand was like silk.

While I was on the Navy base I saw on the beach some of the BP workers cleaning up the beach.

The ridge that runs parallel with the water is from the British Petroleum (BP) workers sifting the sand to clean the oil and tar from the beach. You can see they have done an excellent job here.

This is me running on the beach. It was beautiful.

This Pensacola Church reminds me that a city may have history and beauty, but what is important is:
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance" Psalms 33:12
